monster cookies

I couldn't pass up the spring mix m&m's at Target today and decided to turn them into monster cookies tonight. I combined a couple different recipes and ended up with perfectly chewy cookies filled with all sorts of goodies.

1/2  cup (1 stick) plus 6 tablespoons butter, softened
3/4  cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2  cup granulated sugar
 2  eggs
1  teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2  cups all-purpose flour
1  teaspoon baking soda
1/2  teaspoon salt
3  cups oats
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, and m&m's (each)

Heat oven to 350°F. Beat butter and sugars on medium speed in an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Add oats and mix well. Scrape down bowl and then add peanut butter and mix until combined. Finally, add chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips and m&m's.

Bake for approximately 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

  1. YUM. I wish we still lived together so that I could eat one right now. Or half of one - maybe from a half that you had already broken off. :)

  2. Monster cookies are good! Mom makes those for the family at christmas time as treats.

  3. Monster cookies are simply the best of the best! I have always seen monster cookies that have like 12 eggs and 5 cups of flour (not really 5 cups, but there is one in my church's cookbook with 12 eggs...can you believe that?) Needless to say, that is too many for me and husband to consume, so I'm glad you posted this simpler version--much more manageable :)

  5. 12 eggs? That's crazy! This is definitely a lot more simple and so fun to make. I confess...sometimes I just make these cookies for an excuse to sneak cookie dough! :)
