This weekend I'm determined to finally de-clutter closets, shelves, basement storage bins and kitchen cabinets. The quote above is my motivation and inspiration to rid our home of excess - excess clothes, shoes, hair products, winter gear, magazines, tupperware....the list goes on. We have more than we need, more than we use and even things that we don't believe to be beautiful. If we don't need it, use it or love it, it's going straight into the donation bin. Those extra boots, mittens or coats I've been hanging on to for years should be keeping someone else warm instead of hanging out in a rubbermaid bin in the basement.
We're contemplating some bigger purchases in the not so distant future (car, house, etc) and the reality of having more to save for is driving me to be more creative with my wardrobe, cooking skills and daily expenses. We all know I don't always
need yet another cardigan or that Chipotle burrito when I can mix and match what I already have in my closet or create a yummy recipe from my favorite cookbooks. I'm posting this update in hopes that it (and you, readers!) will hold me accountable!
This is sort of like a New Year's resolution...just a few months early. :)
